Painting like Mad

Since the last post, i have been painting most days to get ready for the shows in North Carolina in September and painting work to show the chairpeople at the Temple Beth El next week. The Beth- El Show is in it's 36th year and is one of the best shows in this area. It draws talent from all over the map and it is always a pleasure to go each year. This year i decided to try to get in the show, always a daunting task for an artist...with all the doubt that goes with showing one's work, and hoping folks like your paintings like you do. I do crow a bit, i will admit, but i do love to paint and those who buy my work are always so complimentary that i am often humbled by their comments...but bringing joy is what painting is about to me...So here are some new ones i have finished .

Hens in the Kitchen

Yesterday, Janet from New York left the Mad Hatter with one of my favorite paintings...Janet who is a writer and just published a book, was visiting her daughter at Duke, when she came upon my work...so this one will hang in her dining room and as usual i am so glad it has a good home

Janet tells me the painting had to ride in the cockpit all the way back to NY.

more and more cupcakes

so last night i started the cupcake series ...inspired by my nephew's wife sarah who loves cupcakes and loves to make and eat them...i think decorating the little cakes is what is fun and also finding nifty little cupcake tins to adorn the little ones. so i am taking fun papers and making the bottoms of the cakes and then painting the tops and adding cool things to the tops. i could eat all of the cakes i am painting ...
also dogs with cupcakes seems fitting. I know savannah would love a cupcake...

this lovely painting of

"The Cow with the Pearl Earring" sold right away...she is very lovely and sat still very nicely for the painting. I doubt Vermeer had such a willing subject. MOO
